Participants in our ROOTs Community Integration Program spends Wednesday afternoons with trainers, Miss Starla and Miss Disa, at the Platte City YMCA mov'in and groov'in. Making healthy choices and living active lifestyles is important to all our Farmers. Miss Starla and Miss Disa make the workouts so fun and engaging we don't even notice we are increasing flexibility, endurance and strength.
Meet Farmer Taylor:
Taylor, right along with The Farmer’s House, has grown and blossomed through participation in our programs for youth and adults with developmental disabilities. Taylor was one of our first program participants when she began attending the Flour Sack Baking Program at our Farm location in 2013.
The Farmers from West Platte and ROOTs made healthy vegetable soup and veggie pizzas for our Flour Sack Baking and Art at the Farm Holiday Party this evening at Platte Woods United Methodist Church!!! Learning valuable vocational skills with a purpose!
Just when a trip to Sam's Club for events at the farm location seemed almost unbearable....look who appeared to SAVE THE DAY!!!! Our friend, Kenny who came to learn vocational skills at The Farmer's House with Platte County's group over the past few years. Kenneth is now a full time of employee of Sam's Club! We are so proud of you!!!!! Keep up the great work!!!!!
