NEWS AND EVENTS
Busy, busy day for our Farmers!! We are busy we are learning, gaining valuable experience and having fun. Started early with catering breakfast for the West Platte Seniors, followed by the WP class working on merchandising in the market, next Park Hill joined us to care for plants and the day ended with catering a BBQ Dinner for the Volkswagen Club at the farm!
The Farmer's House would like to give a huge CONGRATULATIONS to our amazing volunteer Grace Cogan on capturing first place in the State Historical Society of Missouri's National History Day Presentation on Saturday. Grace took the win in the Performance Category by penning and presenting an original script of Frances Perkins. For those of you who don't know. Frances Perkins was the U.S. Secretary of Labor from 1933 to 1945, the longest serving in that position, and the first woman appointed to the U.S. Cabinet.
More than 3,000 students from across Missouri competed at the local level with approximately 600 advancing to the state competition and the top two in each category advancing to Nationals! That includes number one Grace, who is headed to Washington DC in June, along with her proud parents, Brian and Kelly Cogan (yes that's our FH Program Director Kelly,) and teacher, Lennie Medcalf, to represent Missouri and compete against students from all 50 states and other countries. Grace you should be so proud of yourself, you always have been and always will be #1 to us!
